Leave your detailsWhat a good trainer does for this goal
Getting stronger is about lifting with good form, adding weight steadily, and recovering well between sessions. A good trainer for this goal will watch how you move, build a plan that goes up gradually, and teach you the main lifts such as squats, deadlifts, presses and rows. They should also explain how to rest and eat enough to support your progress.
When you write your brief, say what you want to lift or what strength goal you have in mind. Tell the trainer how often you can train, whether you use a gym or prefer home, and what your experience is. If you have an injury or a health condition, say so, and check with a GP or physio before starting heavy lifting. You choose what to share, so include only what a trainer needs to train you safely.
Common questions
Do I need gym experience to get stronger with a trainer?
No. A trainer can start you with basic movements and light weights, then build up at a pace that suits you. Say in your brief if you are new so they can plan accordingly.
How heavy should I lift when I train with a trainer?
Your trainer will set the weights based on how you move and what you can handle safely. Progress is usually gradual, so expect the weights to rise over several weeks rather than all at once.
Can I get stronger at home with a trainer?
Yes. Choose the home option in your brief and say what equipment you have. A trainer can build a programme around bodyweight moves, bands or dumbbells, or you can choose online coaching in your brief.
